[GC] Gamecube Disc Burning Guide
« on: November 01, 2008, 01:23:12 AM »
This guide will show you how to burn a mini-dvd-r to run on a modded gamecube.

Firstly download and install Imgburn. It's totally free! You can get the latest version here. After running it for the first time, you will see a screen much like this:

You can turn the log off if you wish by going under "view". To burn your image, select "write image file to disc"

NOTE - The image file you have may be a gcm file. Imgburn should handle this format, however, if you have any problems you can simply rename it to a .iso file.

Next, select the image you wish to burn (1). Make sure the burner you wish to use is selected under "destination". Change the write speed to 1x (2) and select how many copies you want. "Verify" is NOT necessary. Finally, press write (3) In 20 minutes or so you should have a shiny new backup for your gamecube. Happy gaming!

Any burning program will work right? Also what if the supported write speeds for my media are 2.4x and 4x only? I know 1x will burn but what if its not listed, do u still reccomend burning at 1x or the lowest "supported" speed?

Firstly, what brand is your burner, what type of discs are you using and what image are you trying to burn?

Any burning program should work, but cube says this is the one to go for and I would tend to believe that as he hasn't steered me wrong yet ;D You could burn at 2x or 2.4x even, but for consistency and less chance of a DRE I would try to burn at 1x at all times

There's a small small chance that you won't, but you most likely will have to.  It is not that hard, all you need is a 4.5mm gamebit screwdriver and a philips head screwdriver.  I'll post a guide for taking apart the GameCube soon.

Seems to me that your burner doesn't support mini DVD-r's

ah right then either your mod isnt working or you need to tweak the pots as long as the burn is ok
