Hello!First time that i'm writting!
Well my question is:"And if after all that, after burning in the 1X speed on image burner and with a xenon mod gc, the gc stiil don't detecte an dvd.(DVD model:ELGIN 1.4Gb/30Min 8X)
The screens that is displayed is much like when there is no dvd on the console.
Maybe problem of a bad midia?
Or else some problem on the mod chip? But if so, when the cube was modded, the guy in the workshop made a demonstration with a writted dvd-R(BUT wasn't an mini dvd, was a normal dvd-R).The gc wasn't completly built, was with the hardware oppened, to fit the normal dvd.
What could this possible be?

You have to tweak the POT.

It's very rare that the current POT setting will work. In most cases, you will need to adjust it.

I have reada bunch of other forums and many say dvd-r are the best media is this true or false lol? as users what are your experiences with different media types? I have a modded cube with a big case that takes full dvd size discs and have been using both dvd-r and +r and when I pay attention to how they sound when booting up the dvd+r's sound as if they were reading with less effort than the -r ones.

When booting up a dvd+r it sounds like a few ticks every second or so for about 10 seconds and the -r sound like when you put a dirty cd in your reader and it just keeps spinning however the -r seems to load quicker than the +r, hope this is not too confusing lol.

I know that -RW will definitely not work. I haven't heard anything about +R. Personally, I use Ritek G0-4 DVD-R and they're flawless. I burned them at 2x using a LiteOn drive.

Never tried the +R's. Always used -R's and had no dramas. As they say, if it's not broke don't fix it...

Stylin'! Cause you gotta look good when whuppin ass!
If it exists, thepurplecube can find it!

Lol I assume that means that originally gamecube discs are burnt on dvd-r then which I did not know of lol I'm surprised dvd +R works then =P

Learned something new today haha, thanks to both of you =) was not expecting a reply so quick.

There's more to it than just +/- format.  Some media codes work better than others, and some work better with different laser potentiometer settings.  Perhaps it might be a good idea to find a media that works for you and stick with it.

Hi everyone,
I'd tried to burn Tetris world on a TDK DVD-R mini disc.
With ImgBurn...exactly as the how-to tuto tell us to do.
The writing seems to goes well. But, when i inserted-it in the Gamecube...it say's "no disc "!!!
The Gamecube is an original one (mean no tweaking done on it) it is the reason?
Thanks

Does your system have a modchip? or is it just that game that's failing?

Well You definately need the modchip for starters, but you will have to tweak your POT.

Hum! About the modchip... wich one do propose! I'd  read  a tuto about how-to install the XenoGC... But it is the only one or the best you propose?
And where you could i found it?
And, finally, what functions give me the fact to get a modchip  :-[?
Sorry for that much question but it's our first game "console" ever".

Use the search function on this forum. Type in "xenogc".  You'll see a bunch of threads you can read to further your education...one of which lists places to buy.

You can also look in buy/sell/trade and take advantage of Cube's modding services.
