A lot of people swear by RITEK-G04's as for a burner I would recommend a Pioneer drives they seem to go on forever and when i had one it worked flawless still burns nice to this day (5 years later) i wish i never gave it to my brother. The Sony/NEC Optiarc drives seem to be working nice and are really cheap but to be honest the only bad brand of drive ive had is a Lite On even their tech guy said "for some reason we just cant get these things right" so ive always avoided those since.

heh, I've had/ have various drives. I've got a few lite ons a couple of LGs, and a few others (have to open PC for brand..)

I've burnt a couple of games for when I get my xeno GC, I use nero linux, and burnt at the lowest speed, and verified them, so far so good....

Just the question of if it will read the media properly when I get the chip.. (first attempt at a mod chip :-[ )

Providing your burn is ok the chip is installed correctly you'll then have to tweak the pots check out mr giggity's Tutorial here

Then it will read the media correctly  :).

I would recommend not burning too many discs at this stage just incase the Gamecube doesnt like that brand let us know how it all goes

Yer, I've done 3, I leave it at that for now....

Besides, if it doesn't work, I have little use for the disks...  :-\

Hi Spike, good to see you here :).

You only need to use fstfix if the GCM image is less than 1.35GB.  If it is the correct size, just burn and play.

excuse me
but do you need a specail disk or something to burn onto a disk?
becuase the gamecube handles small disk like things right?
so how do you get it to run on a gamecube?
or is it just a CD rom after its burned
becuase thats pretty odd
i was hoping to knowwhat type of disk you need to run on a gamecube?
A Gamer, and The Brains. Also go to IRC, im usally on it from 6pm-7pm and sometimes 12am-5am

mini-dvdrs are required... list of tested media HERE
"Also when burning backups, rather then buying smalling diameter disks couldn't I just be cheap and trim the standard ones with scissors?"

Hello!First time that i'm writting!
Well my question is:"And if after all that, after burning in the 1X speed on image burner and with a xenon mod gc, the gc stiil don't detecte an dvd.(DVD model:ELGIN 1.4Gb/30Min 8X)
The screens that is displayed is much like when there is no dvd on the console.
Maybe problem of a bad midia?
Or else some problem on the mod chip? But if so, when the cube was modded, the guy in the workshop made a demonstration with a writted dvd-R(BUT wasn't an mini dvd, was a normal dvd-R).The gc wasn't completly built, was with the hardware oppened, to fit the normal dvd.
What could this possible be?
