when you say

"Apply a small amount of solder to the solderpoints before you place your XenoGC on it, then a small amount of solder on each point and its installed!"

What do solderpoints and points look like? (sorry im new to this kind of stuff)

Tornplaya.

it's like glue, you add the glue to both sides and mix it together :p

If you understand that...

If you're looking for a good iron in europe get the MP-51 Slim 15W, I won't burn off the points like a 30w will if you let it stay for too long, depending on your skills a 30W is fine but it may be too strong for a newbie.

::) Hey u all out there don't waste your time buying a xenogc, save that money and buy an sd media laucher made datel, u can do a soft mod on it easy and just lower your pot setting between 150 - 200 or so u r set to play back up games. if u have the newer version of gamecube system model dol 101 then you don't need to do any pot setting cos model dol 101 have stronger laser pot made. but also i recommend burning game use high premium made brand disc to avoing not loading game error. Ritek data mini dvd-r or Tayo Yuden dvd-r. Tayo yuden don't make mini dvd-r only if u had a replacement top support full side disc.

Not sure about that as a general claim.  The laser in my friend's son's DOL-101 has a much harder time reading discs than the two DOL-001 machines which I have modded.  It seems to read regular MCC 03RG20 DVD-Rs fairly well, but has a lot of problems reading Ritek G04 mini-DVD-Rs.  One of the DOL-001s reads just about anything!

Yeah, that claim isn't true at all.  And how do you save money buying an SD Media Launcher?  Unless you can get me one for $12...

So currently I'm trying to install my xeno gc chip, after a failed attempt, I tried again and my red light turned orange.  Is this the equivalent to green?

This guide should be stickied. In fact, it's so good I took the time to make this:

Of course, in the time it took me to make someone might have already stickied it. That's pretty much how good my luck is.  ;D

Note: The big yellow piece of paper is a sticky note. Get it?

I think this should be stickied aswell, it seems to be very helpful to people and it has quite alot of views to be just a normal tutorial.

If any mod here disagrees, just unsticky it. :)

I just cracked open a new cube and I plan to be doing my first xeno install (have done other mod chips before).  I'll take some pictures and will post them to the tutorial.

One thing I noticed is that your board appears to be rev A.  Mine is rev B.   In your picture (blurry), the upper right corner resistor (?) appears to be at 45deg instead of 0 deg on mine. It probably didn't really make a difference for your install anyway.

I added some photos to the first post.  I tried the wireless install and I must say that I messed it up.  I almost had it perfect except for one last connection. I didn't have enough solder on the point and couldn't make it bridge to the xeno gc chip.  So I had to remove the solder and lifted up the traces.  Rats!
